Berkeley Center for Theoretical PhysicsOpening SymposiumFriday, Oct 19 and Saturday, Oct 20 |

The Berkeley Center for Theoretical Physics was founded about six years ago, but with no home. Last fall, we moved to the top floor of LeConte Hall, a historic building built in the 1920s where people like Oppenheimer, Lawrence, and Teller had their offices. The renovation project created a large interaction area, surrounded by blackboards, beneath the restored skylight. We nearly doubled our office space to accommodate all of our students and postdocs. We are eager to welcome visitors to this new place where we are already enjoying enhanced collaboration and interchange among our members. We very much hope that people in our community will visit us and help us make good use of this space.
To celebrate the BCTP's new home, we will host a symposium and celebration on Friday October 19 and Saturday October 20, 2007. We have assembled a great group of speakers:
Go to bctp.berkeley.edu for more details about the symposium, registration and lodging information and, of course, the BCTP itself.
